Chris Elser.
What do you do at Sound?
I am an Account Director. I work with my clients to develop the best strategies to deliver their message to their intended target. We do it collaboratively and it drives results. This is a results business.
What’s your career background?
I started in my Dad’s agency and learned from the ground up. Sales promotion, Account Assistant and Assistant Media Buyer, then Media Director and then then Account Exec and Partner. I look back and love the trajectory. It gave me a well-rounded education in advertising and a ton of experience.
What do you enjoy about the work you do?
I love the relationship with clients. I love that they trust us with finding the right audience and the right touchpoints to promote their business in the ever-changing landscape. It’s incredibly gratifying to deliver on that trust. And on those occasions where results weren’t what we expected, it’s using it as an education and motivation to go get it right. But I like our team’s batting average.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve been given?
My Dad told me early on “if you need to tell people how good you are at something, you’re not as good as you think. If you’re good, they’ll know it.” I have learned so much from that and use it with how I conduct myself, how I have raised my children, and how I try to provide leadership at Sound.
What do you enjoy doing when you are not working?
Bopping around with my wife (we are so compatible it’s scary, from traveling, to shopping, to dining, to picking shows to watch, it’s easy), spending time with my family (we can get pretty loud), Golf and finding a new IPA that I haven’t had before. Ok and although it’s not a hobby, I really like drinking Coconut Ciroc…on the rocks. Our town softball team is the greatest collection of guys ever assembled including all 6 of our boys.
What’s the best concert you’ve been to?
I haven’t been to a bad one. But it’s a tie between all 11 Lynyrd Skynyrd shows Steph and I have been to and Pearl Jam at Fenway Park. Honorable mentions are ZZ Top, John Fogerty, The Outlaws and Bon Jovi.
What’s your go-to karaoke song?
Sweet Home Alabama. I stink but people seem to appreciate the energy. Also La Grange.. not a lot of lyrics, but a GREAT song.
What’s your life motto?
Live Lucky.
